Jazz Shots From The East Coast, Vol. 1

 |
| A nice little collection of rare jazz performances -- pulled from what appears to be a 3 decade span, and mostly focusing on artists from scenes east of the Mississippi! The notes are a bit spare, and we would have appreciated a bit more date and personnel information -- but we can't complain about the performances themselves, which are all pretty great, and mostly seem to be taken from TV sources that give a rare glimpse of legendary jazz giants in action. Titles include "Up With The Lark" and "Waltz For Debby" by Bill Evans, "Darn That Dream" and "Ahmad's Blues" by Ahmad Jamal, "My Old Flame" by Phil Woods, "Blue Monk" by Thelonious Monk, "Tagore" and "Passin Thru" by Keith Jarrett, "Mack The Knife" by Jimmy Smith, "Newport Blues" by Oscar Peterson, "Monk's Dream" by Johnny Griffin, and "Sophisticated Lady" and "Mood Indigo" by Duke Ellington. All music, no interviews or talking!
