| On DNA the always-adventurous pianist Matthew Shipp performs a set of duets with bassist William Parker. Shipp's dense chords and atonal playing is reminiscent of Cecil Taylor although there is a lyricism and a use of space that is very much his own. Parker plays in a driving fashion creating a wide variety of original sounds. |
